Colors

How colour works

Colour is assigned per section in ring 1 and inherited by everything beneath it. A branch therefore keeps one colour from the hub outwards, and keeps the same colour in every view — so you can switch between Sunburst, Tree, Outline and Graph without losing your bearings.

The schemes

The palette button beside the view tabs offers six schemes:

• Modern Rainbow — the default; a full spectrum sweep that separates every section clearly.
• Pastel — the same spread, softened. Good behind text and in slides.
• Vivid — the same spread, saturated. Good for presenting at a distance.
• Even / Odd — two alternating tones, for telling neighbouring sections apart without a full spectrum.
• Monochrome — one hue across a range of lightness.
• Single color — one flat colour for the whole map, when the structure should carry the picture on its own.

Base color

The Base color panel — a colour picker plus eight presets — drives every scheme. It sets the starting hue for the three spectrum sweeps, the single hue for Monochrome, one of the two tones for Even / Odd, and the flat colour for Single color. Set it to a brand colour and every map comes out on-palette.
