Sunburst

What it shows

The Sunburst is the view you land on. Your keyword sits in the centre hub and each ring outward is one level deeper: the nine sections in ring 1, their subtopics in ring 2, and theirs in ring 3. A whole subject fits in one picture, which makes this the fastest way to see its shape.

Navigating it

• Rotate — hover the centre hub and scroll. The whole wheel turns, so you can bring any branch round to where it reads comfortably.
• Follow a branch — each section keeps one colour and passes it down to everything beneath it, so a branch stays visually intact from the hub outwards.
• Go deeper — click any segment to research that subtopic as a new map.

While a map is still generating, a spinner marks the ring that has not arrived yet — the rings you can already see are complete.

When to use it

Reach for the Sunburst when you are orienting yourself in an unfamiliar subject, or showing someone else the shape of one. Because it reads as a single picture, it is also what a PNG export always contains. If the labels are what you care about, the Tree view is easier to read.
